An absolutely wonderful appraisal from James and Victoria grabbed right at the end of the night at Sandhole Oak Barn, lights still spinning! I think what Victoria says really sums up my approach to playing at people’s weddings, so I’m chuffed to be able to share it with you. Filmed after a rather eventful evening reception, Luke and Nicola give an appraisal of my involvement in their day. I’d sung acoustically for them in the afternoon, then the band had played for the night do – including their first dance, “Baby I Love You” in the style of The Ramones! We also dropped a bit of “Blitzkrieg Bop” later in the proceedings at Luke’s request – I certainly didnt’t expect the reaction we got!
A great couple to play for, and a fantastic wedding party to boot! I’ll stand by my offer to Lee near the end of the video, but I don’t think they’ll be needing my services again (unless it’s for a christening or a birthday party!).
A lovely little vidimonial from Victoria and Lee grabbed after a satisfyingly exhausting evening reception at the evocative Belle Epoque in Knutsford. Always a pleasure to play and DJ for a receptive crowd – one of whom invades the video to say a few nice words about me as well!
Grabbed just as proceedings were coming to an end, another lovely on-the-spot review; this time from the wonderful Alan and Laura Roberts. A large proportion of typically exuberant Scousers helped to make this a real banger of a night do. This was a strange one for me – solo singing with acoustic and DJing. What a combo! We had such a good time, with the requests coming thick and fast. Particular emphasis was given to LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem – it had been the signature song of the lads’ stag do and, as you can imagine, it had the desired effect each of the three times (!) it was requested by the groom and his best man. Alan and Laura chose Fyfe Dangerfield’s beautiful version of ‘Always a Woman’ for their first dance, which gave me a good excuse to learn it for my own portfolio!
A lovely on-the-night review from Laura and the girls. Peckforton is always a pleasure to play at, particularly in the atmospheric Great Hall, and Ben and Laura had made some fantastic song choices. They asked for Guillemot’s gorgeous ‘Made Up Love Song’ as their first dance – we were only too happy to oblige! We played the wedding only a week or so before I was told about the fire that had caused an incredible amount of damage to the place. Such a shame about these events that have put a spanner in the works for so many couples getting married there. Here’s to a swift recovery Peckforton!
